FIM 2010 R2 Released!

Finally FIM 2010 R2 is here. In the updated version we can find a lot of changes and improvements.
The product is more localized. The FIM Service and Portal is now available in 19 languages and SSPR (Self Service Passowrd Reset) Registration and Reset portals and Add-ins and Extensions are available in 33 languages.
The password reset feature has some new functionalities as well.
Previously there was no validation of the answers a user provided to the questions. If the user was annoyed by the registration form he could just answer 'a' to all questions and be done with it. Now that is not very secure or efficient. In R2 we can at least make some verification that the answer is of a certain length and that two questions do not contain the same answer. It is also possible to enter a descriptive text that informes the user of these limitations.
It is also possible to register the answers and to reset the password from a computer that is not domain joined. It was previously possible to reset the password from colleague's computer through the portal but the machine required the FIM client installed.
SSPR can also be set up to allow password resets using OTP over SMS or email. I will try out these features and will get back with more information soon.
